Enfin, il était un jour amusant.

happy thoughts

i was looking for something when i stumbled upon an old notebook. it was what i used as my gratitude journal during high school. reading through the entries, it really did feel like those things happened ages ago. some events i can remember, others i can picture only vaguely. in one of the latter pages, i came across a few paragraphs which i copied when i read the book Diary of an Anorexic Girl...

Dreams...how many dreams are out there, swirling in the atmosphere, mingling with oxygen, stars, and earth? How many wishes on candles and falling stars have burned out with the light of their source?

People walk around on a mission - a sad mission - to forget the dreams that were nourished in youth. They feign happiness in the face of success, labor, and the monotomy of life.

There are too many abandoned dreams. Why doesn't someone reach up and grab one, fashion a net out of optimism, youth, and passion. Braid the threads of childhood, carelessness, and lazy Saturdays into a web of hope in which the dreams will naturally fly.

Happiness is not an impossibility; it just requires a little imagination.

...and this is something from a Hallmark card. I collect cards too. ^o^ Hehe

if you're kind to people who dial the wrong number,
if the sight of the changing colors of sunset gives you pause,
if you don't always have to be the first at a four-way stop,
if you smile more than you complain,
if you still marvel at the caterpillar/butterfly thing,
if you sometimes have something to cry about,
if you can still spot a good climbing tree,
if you can share,
if you throw the little fish back,
if your heart hurts for another,
if in the silence before sleep, you are filled with a sense of gratitude...

You have a life well-lived.

I realized just how lucky I am. Praise God.

the "book" in me

Lord of the rings
J.R.R. Tolkien: Lord of the Rings. You are
entertaining and imaginative, creating whole
new worlds around yourself. Well loved, you
have a whole league of imitators, none of which
is quite as profound as you are. Stories and
songs give a spark of joy in the middle of your
eternal battle with the forces of evil.
