red

My wardrobe is sorely lacking in the red department. I need to go get some red shirts so I don't have a hard time picking what to wear on birthdays and other special occasions.

Friday was A-pe's birthday. Spent most of the night chatting with Cha :)
Saturday was Angkong's birthday :) Celebrated at New Dynasty. One of the more memorable bits of the evening was plotting to switch the channel of the TV in the function room. The story behind that was one of my great aunts was watching a Taiwan singing talent show while my uncles wanted to catch the latest score of the basketball game. We made several attempts to change the channel but my great aunt always shouted out to go back to the original channel. A-ku had several accomplices but it was always Mission Fail :)) In the end, we decided that someone should pretend to trip on the tv cable wire which would shut the tv down hehe. We were too nice to execute the plan though haha.

We also discussed sleeping habits - talking in your sleep, sleep walking, falling asleep when the TV is on but then promptly waking up when your spouse turns off the tv, lying positions (do you sleep with your head elevated or flat), and other sleeping habits.

I got a chance to see the sketches that Angkong made. Some were quite realistic. I remember sitting still in our Toronto dining table once, while Angkong made a sketch of me. He really does have a talent for drawing :)

Today, I cleaned and tidied up my closet. There's more space now and I color coded my shirts. Hopefully, I can keep my closet this way throughout this year.

Had dinner at Buddy's with my family. Simple dinner of pancit lucban and sago't gulaman. It was a nice quiet evening.

Tomorrow's Monday. It's also Valentine's. Most importantly, it's the day D arrives home! Yey! :D

To end the post, I'm reposting the chorus of The Script's Science and Faith. Love the song :)

"You won't find faith or hope down a telescope
You won't find heart and soul in the stars
You can break everything down to chemicals
But you can't explain a love like ours"

nails nails nails

I tried the Face & It Repair Nails Hologram in PP401 color that I bought at the Face Shop yesterday.
I love the product :D It's so easy to apply. I don't use up as much cotton buds and the polish doesn't seem to  concentrate at the tip of my nail, giving the end product a sleek, satin, glittery finish.

It's a bit steep at 200+ pesos but it's so user friendly and pretty that I don't mind. I got a really nice effect with just one coating :D Of course, I think the polish would look better on nails that were nicely-shaped at a manicurist's but I've always enjoyed doing the painting myself.

tangled

It's now 9:26 pm, Sunday. After a few more hours, it'll be goodbye weekend! And hello Monday once again. D's off hiking on a volcano somewhere in that part of Central America he is now. Whenever I talk to him on Skype, I can feel a sense of adventure :) And of course, tiredness :( But he seems to be more happy than sad so all's good :)

I had a pretty awesome weekend. On Sat, I had dinner with the girls at Sala Bistro. Food was so-so, but I enjoyed the strawberry pavlova dessert - it was a winning combination of sweet and tart. It's funny how girls can never run out of things to say when they're together. Are guys like that too? Well, I guess friends in general are that way :) At the end of the night, we had a bit of work cut out for us as we plan our annual trip but I'm sure it'll all be worth it ;)

Headed off to Trinoma to watch Tangled after my tutor session. I totally enjoyed the movie! It was funny and touching and it had me wanting to break out in song Disney style :D I really loved the lantern scene, and Flynn is such a cute lead character. I can't believe I have a crush on an animated character :| Haha. Oh, and I'd probably want a chameleon for a pet too if it were as adorable as Pascal :) Does anyone know how the real Rapunzel story ended? I forgot how she was saved from the tower.

I did a lot of retail therapy today :| The items, I hope I will put to good use. I got this Fresh Cucumber Pack from The Body Shop. I'm hoping it's make my face moisturized and glowing after a tiring work week. The label should probably say, "effective only when paired with 8 hours of sleep" - which I am so not getting these days :| I blame it on Korean dramas. I also got some pretty cool nail polish colors from the shop.

Ate at Seafood Island where we enjoyed watching my mom devour crabs :) It was adorable. Haha.

So the weekend ended on a high note despite a few lows on Saturday. I'm just trying to be more understanding in my relationships with others, esp. my family.

I end the weekend with a song by Pink entitled F***ing Perfect. I can relate to the lyrics.

Kasio by Taru

I love this song. It's my current LSS~

Lyrics are from this site.

오늘은 어땠죠
힘들었나요 나에게 기대어 쉬어요
ohohoh~~
ohohoh~~

year of the rabbit

Just got back from Chinese New Year dinner at Ama's house. We had a special guest this year - Sako. She surprised us by flying to Manila without telling a soul, except the uncle who picked her up at the airport. Other than him, all of us were really surprised to see here, miles away from Toronto :D But it's always lovely having relatives home.

And so, we welcome the year of the rabbit. May it be a good year for all of us ;)

I end with a quote that seems tailormade for me.

"Worrying won't stop the bad stuff from happening. It just keeps you from enjoying the good."

choices

I had a dream about going back into the HR outsourcing world - a world filled with global telecoms, email-dependent jobs, long work hours, tons of documentation, old friends, and worldwide opportunities. I woke up troubled as if I really was considering taking the job but was worried what my parents would say.

I guess do miss working for a big corporation with global ties, a company where I get to meet and interact with people outside my family. But then again, I can't have anything, and life is greatly dependent on the choices I make. Though I feel a bit sad that I'll never be able to consider a job in a big corporation again, I feel comforted somewhat knowing that where I am now is a good place.

And I think I'm finally getting a sort of direction, being able to choose a certain path and sticking to it. I've always been kind of impatient when it comes to my career. I think I'm learning...

fruity love

Found these sweet stickers on Design*Sponge
So whimsical! :)
D came up with one: "We make the perfect pear" :D
Such a wonderful, cheesy line~ Haha
