weekend rundown

Goodbye Independence Day long weekend :(

I spent Friday evening at home, probably reading a book or watching PBB (guilty pleasure :X). I've been stressing my self out a bit lately. Another bout of quarter life crisis. Is it just me or does everyone have those sudden bouts? :|

Saturday. Had lunch at the temple on 6th. Chatted with Achi Sheila and other cousins :) Movie plan with family + H and D didn't push through because theater houses were full :| Shopped with D for something red and nice to wear to those Chinese birthdays :) The search was successful ;) I heart Promod. Had a filling (literally, with heaps of rice and gata dishes. Gising gising = love) dinner at Abe. Yum! Then filled the tiny space called "dessert storage" with yogurt from White Hat. D and I had coffee jelly, cheesecake, and peaches for toppings. I liked the cheesecake. And also Zel's strawberry mochi topping. Shopped for Ni's dancing shoes afterwards. She found a cute gold pair with zippers (for extra oomph!) at the shop beside Folded and Hung (the name escapes me now).

Sunday. Lunch with D's family :) Had a good laugh and enjoyed the conversation. Headed off to Shangri-la but didn't get to catch the french film fest :( Instead, we ran some errands for my mom, collected scent samples at rustan's, researched on day creams (suggestions anyone? clinique, kanebo, shiseido...?), shopped at Powerbooks (found Spooky Little Girl - bought! - and The One That I want - did not buy. will wait for paperback hehe.), had an affogatto break at dome & early dinner at La Creperie (shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, and cheese make for a good combination). D and I talked about family and work and pessimism and acceptance. Good conversation really :) Ran into Ace and family at Golden Spoon.

Monday. Office until 3:30pm. More or less productive day :) Watched Karate Kid afterwards with my mom and zel. Enjoyed the movie :) I loved the landscape shots and the training scenes :) Jaden Smith has talent. Looking forward to the Steve Carrell animation film, Despicable Me - looks promising. Had dinner at Toast Box, where I got to satisfy my milk tea love.

One week to go before another audit visit. Back to work :) The weekend was recharging enough.

I've been thinking about self-worth. Sometimes, there are things that make you doubt yourself, but these are the same things that keep you grounded. The desire and need for self-improvement never wanes. It's just a matter of how dedicated you are.

I started watching "Nobuta wo Produce" last night. Got to keep the ears attuned to the Japanese language. And of course, I'll need to be stricter with violin practice :|

I discovered a new shoe store today - Michael Antonio @ SM Annex. It looked like one of those High Street shoe shops, similar to Steve Madden, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices were in a more or less reasonable range (along the lines of Charles & Keith). Got myself two pairs of sandals (for the hot summer weather) and Zel chose a pair of studded turquoise sandals for herself. My sister's discovering her fashionista self :

My dad bought me a new bag :D Hehe. For days, he's mentioned the sad state of the bag I carry to the office. Unexpected gifts have a way of brightening days too :)

Had dinner at Sakae Sushi. Ni and Zel downed plates of salmon sushi :)

The trip to the mall today was relaxing. It was nice walking around (and buying stuff *wink*) as there weren't that many people. It's nice to be able to leave work for a bit after "work hours."
